The Advanced Redoubt of Fort Barrancas

It would seem the other thing Daddy can not pass is a historical site or battle field. The Advanced Redoubt of Fort Barrancas counts as both. It is a fort built to defend the Naval Ship Yard and saw action in the Civil War.
Here I am standing at the front gate. It is locked, too late in the day for a guided tour.

Daddy stuck the Camera in a window and snapped this picture. It was really cold inside.

Taken in the crossfire pit.

Me helping Auntie up the stairs.

From the front.

A firing port.
Another shot through one of the firing ports.

The scarred main gate.

A close up of the battle damage at the front gate.

A close up of the brick work.

Me not wanting to leave. I did not even get to see inside. Have to be here by 11am. We were only 4 hours late.

We will have to return for the guided tour, to see the inside. That and this is one of three forts on Naval Air Station Pensacola.
